Poetry helps me express emotion in a different way. Sometimes that means raw, unfiltered grief. Other times it is a moment shaped by faith, memory, suffering, creation, or a simple reminder to look beyond our circumstances to the gracious awakening of a new day.
There are only a few poems here for now, but as I continue to grow in expressing emotion through poetry, this page will become a growing literary collection of that journey.
Restless
Nameless faces haunting my sleep
Seeing without knowledge
Dreaming is insufficient
Rest escaping my grip
Hoping to know the unknown

Sleepy Shadows
Sleepy shadows on gravestones lie
Names and faces the day won’t see
Where grass withers and flowers die
Reminders of who used to be
Night is coming, the shadows grow
Like the tears flowing on my cheek
Longing for you who lies below
I think of thoughts I should not speak
Take this pain for I am weeping
Days will pass but my heart is frayed
Tears are better spent on living
Your place in the ground I would trade

Morning Star
Fog lies low in the valley still,
The sun breaks softly on the hill.
Then golden beams of blazing light
Push back the darkness from my sight.
Shimmering branches on the pine,
A quiet scene that feels divine.
The days pass quickly, this we know,
But moments like this help me grow.
The bright Morning Star breaks the day,
A gentle call for me to pray.
Shining bright the heavens proclaim:
Thank you, Jesus, I bless Your name.

Frost on the Meadow
At dawn the valley breathed in light,
The frost lay still on meadow bright.
A herd of elk in silence fed,
While morning stirred the hills ahead.
The fog settled softly through the trees,
The waking world moved with the breeze.
Then through the sky a crow took wing,
Creation stirred and Heavens sang.
And standing there the heart could see
The Maker’s hand on you and me.
For all who pause and look above
May glimpse His glory and His love.
