Some moments begin with an image. Others begin with words.
These reflections are my expression of an ancient contemplative spiritual practice known as Visio Divina, or "divine seeing". It is the practice of slowing down, paying careful attention to creation, noticing what it stirs up within us and remaining open to what God may reveal through the act of seeing.
This practice does not replace Scripture reading or hold the same authority in our spiritual formation, but it has borne much fruit in my life. It has helped me recognize God's presence in the world around me and has brought the truths of His Word alive in my soul.
Below you will find some of my own reflections, but I encourage you not merely to read what I have seen. Take time to slow down, pay attention, and begin practicing Visio Divina for yourself. You may be surprised by what God reveals when you pause long enough to truly see.
