On Monday I took a walk out in the State Game lands and came across this flock of birds that was moving as one... I had no idea what they were at the time but after some research I learned that they were European Starlings. 

I also learned a new word...when a flock of Starlings move together as one it is called a murmuration. 

This little murmuration was loud and drew my attention right away… It wasn't one of those massive murmurations you see online where thousands of birds are moving like waves across the sky.  This was smaller. Maybe a hundred or so. Just a local flock of starlings…shifting, turning, moving together as one.

And thinking back on that moment this morning it made me think of the local body of believers that we call the church…  Because the Church isn’t always a massive crowd.  It’s not always thousands. Sometimes it’s just a small group…ordinary people…learning to move together. Staying connected. Adjusting to one another. Following the same direction and listening to the same voice of the Father guiding them.  And when that happens it sure is a beautiful sight!
