Hard Places
On Sunday afternoon, between services, Amy and I went for a hike and I walked right past these flowers. I didn’t even notice them, but she did. She stopped and pointed them out. These tiny yellow flowers pushing their way up through broken shale.
So I stopped and looked closer and took this shot. Since that moment, I haven’t been able to shake the image. In life we often expect growth and beauty to show up in the “good soil”, in the easy seasons, the well-watered places, the moments when everything feels like it’s working.
But sometimes God calls things to take root and bloom in the hard and broken places. In the dry, rocky, and overlooked places we sometimes walk right past.
We miss what God is doing right in front of us until someone slows us down and helps us see. For me, that someone was Amy and for that I’m grateful.
